Oliver Dingley. Julian Herbert

A history of diving and keeping an eye on the neighbours, it's your comments of the week

A decent effort from ye over the past seven days.

English-born diver Oliver Dingley opened up about his fears of not being accepted by the Irish public after he qualified for the Rio Olympics.

But Ciarán O’Dochartaigh was quick to point out that, in his eyes at least, Dingley isn’t breaking new ground.

The last diver I remember qualifying under the granny rule was Aiden McGeady

Roscommon’s form in Division 1, which has seen them win four in a row, has been the story of National Football League so far. And as the drought of neighbours Mayo continues, Kyle Casey can’t help but dream that they will beat the Green and Red to Sam.

Great craic if we won Sam before mayo;)

It’s been a great week for the Irish trainers at Cheltenham and one to forget for the bookmakers. Dermot Doheny is certainly enjoying a rare win for the punters.

Carnage for the bookies! I love it

Four-time Russian breaststroke world champion Yuliya Efimova was suspended for alleged doping this week. With a certain other high-profile case no doubt still ringing in his ears, Stephen Casey couldn’t help himself.

Now now let’s not jump to conclusions she may also have a long term heart condition…

David Pocock has revealed that he will take a year out of rugby to focus on studying. Pete Slattery set it up nicely when he said:

Incredible player.

Only for Reg Gordon to put it away the assist with this gem:

Even better human being, and that says a lot!

West Ham and Ireland goalkeeper Darren Randolph said that Bastian Schweinsteiger ruined his Sunday when he got in his way in the build-up to Manchester United’s equaliser in their FA Cup quarter-final last weekend. It gave Breno Rogers the perfect window to mention Randolph’s assist for Ireland’s winner against the Manchester United midfielder’s homeland last year.

One things for sure. Schweinsteiger would of been proud of the ball Randolph played to Shane long against Germany !
