DONEGAL EXITED THE 2016 championship race last night in Croke Park and the game brought the curtain down on the career of one of their longest-serving players.
33 year-old Colm McFadden announced his retirement after Donegalโs 1-15 to 1-10 All-Ireland quarter-final defeat to Dublin.
The St Michaelโs club man came on as a late substitute in the game but the loss means it is his last senior football outing for the county.
McFadden remarkably made 170 appearances for Donegal including 64 in championship. His scoring feats were also stunning as he racked up 25 goals and 434 points during his career. The forward has scored more and played more than any other senior footballer for Donegal.
McFadden was involved for 14 years at inter-county level with Donegal. His career highlight was in 2012 when he won an All-Ireland senior medal, scoring 1-4 in that final win over Mayo. He also claimed an Allstar award that same year.
In addition McFadden won a National League medal in 2007 and three Ulster senior medals in 2011, 2012 and 2014.
At the end of the 2014 season, McFadden announced his retirement but he rejoined the panel earlier this year.

the ref and linesmen can spend the guts of three minutes discussing an incident where a ladโs shorts are pulled down but canโt use a tmo to look at serious infringements such as contentious goals, penalties and fouls. ffs!
Thatโs nothing fans get their pants pulled down regularly .
