Worry for Kerry as Cooper comes off injured in first half of Munster final

The Gooch suffered a shoulder injury.

KERRY SUFFERED AN injury setback in today’s Munster senior football final with the loss of Colm Cooper through injury in the first half.

Cooper came off in the 22nd minute, holding his left collarbone and after being treated to by Kingdom medics, he headed to the dressing-room in Fitzgerald Stadium.

The Dr Crokes player had suffered a heavy challenge from Tipperary defender Ciaran McDonald in the 11th minute, an incident that resulted in a free which Bryan Sheehan pointed.

Cooper was in a sling after the game as Kerry celebrated a 78th Munster senior football title with captain Bryan Sheehan lifting the cup.

It remains to be seen the extent of the injury suffered by Cooper with manager Eamonn Fitzmaurice confirming after the game that he will be assessed in the coming days. The Kerry boss did reveal that the team medics were hopeful that it is not severe.

Kerry will be next out in action on the weekend of 30-31 July at the All-Ireland quarter-final stage.
