Collingwood Cup holders UCC sent packing by Maynooth after penalty shootout

UCD, UL and Trinity make up this year’s semi-finals.

2015 COLLINGWOOD CUP winners UCC will not retain the trophy after losing out to Maynooth in this afternoon’s quarter-final.

The sides played out a scoreless draw at The Mardyke and were still locked at 0-0 after extra-time. A penalty shootout then saw 2014 champions Maynooth prevail 4-3.

The competition’s most successful side UCD also needed spot-kicks to book their place in the last-four as they defeated Queens 8-7 after sudden death having drawn 1-1.

Elsewhere, the all-Dublin affair between DCU and Trinity ended with latter claiming a 1-0 win despite doing down to 10 men, while UL overcame Mary I by a 2-1 scoreline after extra-time at The Farm.

Tomorrow’s semi-finals will be:

  • UCD v Maynooth
  • UL v Trinity
