IRELAND’S SIX NATIONS winning captain Paul O’Connell has gotten down and dirty with the rest of his fellow Limerick citizens today as the county set about cleansing itself.

The entire Treaty County has been mobilised today to get the county so spotless you could eat your dinner off it.

The event is Team Limerick Clean-up (TLC) and with over 10,000 supporters across the city and county the one day event was always going to be a big hit.

O’Connell is of course a Limerick man first and foremost.

“I do enjoy doing stuff for Limerick – it’s easy for me, I grew up here, I’d love to stay living here, and I’d love if Paddy stayed living here when he grows up,” he said.

Loaning my image to a campaign like this to try and make it more successful is something I’ve enjoyed doing.

The Munster and Ireland captain was just one of many sports stars getting their hands dirty for the cause.

Others included:

Both Limerick senior intercounty squads…

JP McManus and Tony McCoy…

And, erm, Willie O’Dea…

Fair play to all involved, not a bad day’s work now.
