Galvin and Cleary to start as Clare unveil team for hurling league opener against Offaly
COLM GALVIN AND Conor Cleary have both been handed starting berths for Clare’s Allianz hurling league opener on Sunday afternoon against Offaly.
Galvin spent some time in Boston last summer but did return to come on as a sub in Clare’s qualifier games against Offaly and Cork last July.
He’s named at midfield for Sunday’s game where he will start alongside David Reidy.
Last year’s U21 hurling captain Conor Cleary is included at right half-back after recovering from fracturing his ankle in a club match last August.
No room for excuses as Clare hurlers seek to recapture past glories
In all there are five changes from the Clare side that saw off Limerick in last month’s Munster senior hurling league final.
Patrick Kelly comes into goal, Conor Ryan is named at left half-back, Galvin gets the nod at midfield while Conor McGrath and Shane O’Donnell come in to the full-forward line.
The Clare substitutes will be named later while injury rules out Tony Kelly and Patrick Donnellan.
