CJ STANDER WILL miss Ireland’s second Test with South Africa in Johannesburg after receiving a one-week suspension for his clumsy challenge on Pat Lambie.
Stander was cited after being sent off by referee Mathieu Raynal in the 23rd minute of Ireland’s 26-20 victory over the Boks after colliding heavily with the head of South African out-half Lambie as he leaped in an apparent attempt to block a kick.

Following consultation with TMO, Jim Yuille of Scotland, and viewing numerous replays of the incident in both slot motion and real time, Raynal red carded the Munster captain.
After deliberating for five hours at a disciplinary hearing in Cape Town yesterday morning, Australian judicial officer Terry Willis adjourned the hearing until 10am local time in Johannesburg today.
Following a mammoth 11 hours of talks this afternoon, Willis, who also presided over Sean O’Brien hearing during last year’s World Cup, handed the Munster captain a one week ban ruling him out of the crunch second Test at Ellis Park.
Stander will be available for selection for the third and final Test in Port Elizabeth on June 26th.
Lambie left the field on a stretcher following the incident at Newlands. The Springboks confirmed yesterday that the Sharks No 10 suffered concussion, ruling him out of the second Test at Ellis Park on Saturday.
Lambie underwent x-rays on Sunday which “showed no abnormality,” but the Boks’ medical team stated he would “undergo further scans as a precaution.”
