EPCR HAVE CONFIRMED that Wasps back row Ashley Johnson has been cited for a dangerous tackle on Dave Kearney in Saturday’s 20-20 draw between the sides at the Ricoh Arena.
Johnson is alleged to have committed the dangerous tackle on the Leinster wing in the opening minute of the game, and the citing comes under law Law 10.4(i).

The Wasps flanker did receive a yellow card from referee Jérôme Garcès for the challenge, but the citing has been made by the match citing commissioner, Alberto Recaldini of Italy.
Law 10.4(i): Tackling the jumper in the air. A player must not tackle an opponent jumping for the ball in open play.
Under World Rugby’s sanctions for foul play, a low-end suspension for tackling a player in the air comes with an entry point of three weeks. The mid-range entry point is six weeks, while the top-end is from 12 to 52 weeks.
Welshman Simon Thomas has been appointed the independent judicial officer for the hearing, which will take place in Dublin on Thursday.
Speaking after the clash with Wasps, Leinster head coach Matt O’Connor indicated that Kearney could be sidelined for “several weeks” with the shoulder injury he sustained in the challenge.
An Ireland injury update yesterday, less than two weeks out from the Six Nations opener against Italy, indicated that Kearney is being monitored this week.

Even on drugs Mayo can’t win
@Brian O’Loughlin: Or the dubs
@scutterpumps: drugs that would explain the cheating carryon off the mayo number 5 alright
@dead right: Awri bud
@Cathal: grand thanks.
@deadright if you don’t know that the Mayo no 5 is Lee Keegan then you obviously haven’t a clue what you’re talking about. Regardless of the rights and wrongs of his behaviour in All Ireland final and replay.
@Cormac O Neill: oh i know who he is alright
@Brian O’Loughlin: they should try whatever Kilkenny is on.
Small financial penalties are inadequate. Why not a championship ban the following year for failing to adhere to testing protocols. What are they hiding anyway. What gives them special treatment.
If Carlow teams are on drugs I think they need to have a sit down with their suppliers, or at the very least up their intake considerably
It’s an amateur game and the drug testing seems to be run fairly amateurishly aswell. At least we know Dr May hasn’t got a ‘ major’ concern with drug use. Cork could do with some of what kilkenny are taking
@Teddyzigzagbigbag: They must have got some of it today.
“At the last minute”…..:) gway ye chancers
Signs are good for a carlow win today then
From listening to sports talk shows on drug use in sport it seems highly likely that there is a huge amount of drug taking in GAA circles!
Unless an organisation actively spot checks players directly after matches on a regular and consistent basis they are really only promoting drug use!!
:-/
What’s with the headline?? Kilkenny and Mayo named from 5 counties. Wonder where the author is from….
@Adrian Costigan: He is from Offaly I believe, but I know, I know you were thinking Dublin.
