Ciarán Sheehan lands new award for Carlton rookies

The former Cork footballer is making an impression down under.

AFTER AN IMPRESSIVE debut season in Aussie Rules, Carlton have honoured Ciarán Sheehan with a new award.

The former Cork footballer’s rise to the senior ranks in Melbourne has been rewarded with the inaugural Chris Judd Development Academy Award.

“I was lucky and fortunate enough to have good coaches around me,” the former Éire Óg clubman says. “Especially all the playing group as well – everyone gets behind each other and is there to help each other out. It’s so competitive but everyone is pushing each other to the limits.”

Sheehan played in the MCG for the first time last weekend in the draw with Essendon.

“It’s an amazing deck!” the Carlton website quotes Sheehan as saying, “The atmosphere and everything was phenomenal – and it’s just great to be a part of it running out with those guys, putting your body on the line and hoping for the best result.”
