LOUTH NATIVE Ciaran ‘Casey’ Byrne joined the ranks of the AFL overnight.
The 20-year-old was introduced in the third quarter of Carlton’s defeat to Essendon at the MCG.
Byrne’s parents made the long trip south to witness their young son’s senior Aussie Rules bow and they will have witnessed a full-blooded contest, punctuated by what we’d call shemozzles.

The Bombers ultimately ran out 21-point winners, despite a late flurry from the Blues, as they continued their impressive start to the season.
A very good squad and really shows the young talent in LOI but would have liked Reghba in there, not sure if he’s officially still LOI though. These supplemented with the likes of Kelleher,Nolan,Masterson,Parrott,Obafemi,Johansson,O’Conno,rConnolly,Idah,Ronan and Doyle-Hayes is exciting!
@Nic Antonio: A clear indication that Reghba is bound for Leicester? Kenny name-checked him as a home based player that he’d involve.
Kenny a great appointment ; there’ll be serious strides made with him.
A lad born and reared in Dundalk declaring for the North.
I’ve seen it all now.
@Colm O’Sullivan: Yeah, you must not have seen this lad though.
Really enjoy Andrews punditry very modern day take on the game glad to see him involved fresh ideas.
What’s the story with the lad who declared for the North there so? Does he just refuse ROI or has he changed his mind again? Strange after declaring there. Nice squad
Will Fitzgerald (limerick) so good they named him twice
That Ireland jersey from
2013 Andrews is pictured in was mint!
@Colm O’Sullivan: Mint green ? Not sure it is
