Superb Ciara Mageean wins bronze for Ireland at European Championships

The Portaferry athlete finished with an impressive time of 4:33.78.

IRELAND’S CIARA MAGEEAN has secured a bronze medal in the 1500m at the European Championships in Amsterdam today.

Mageean finished behind winner Angelika Cichocka of Poland and silver medalist Sifan Hassan of the Netherlands, while Norway’s Ingvill Måkestad Bovim was fourth.

The Irish athlete secured a time of 4:33.78, just missing out on silver, with Hassan narrowly beating here with 4:33.76.
