LEINSTER HAVE OPTED not to register either Sean O’Brien or Cian Healy as eligible players ahead of Saturday’s Champions Cup meeting with Wasps.
Clubs had until noon today to submit details for additional players to the EPCR, but a spokesman for the governing body confirmed to The42.ie that no request had come from the eastern province.
With both forwards training fully for Leinster this week, Joe Schmidt will surely be keen to see the duo in competitive action before selecting them in a Six Nations match.
As the Pro12 is on a break until mid February, the obvious pre-tournament opportunity for Schmidt to see Healy or O’Brien in action is the 30 January clash between the Irish Wolfhounds and England Saxons in Cork.

Another mooted option would be the team-mates don different colours for the Ulster Bank League fixture between UCD and Clontarf on 31 January. However, a statement released by Leinster today states that the players’ focus is on the 15 February Pro12 clash with Newport Gwent Dragons.
Should Leinster make the quarter-finals of the Champions Cup, they will be able to name up to three additional players provided one is a front row.
