THE GAA HAS this afternoon reversed its decision to schedule the Christy Cup final replay for this Saturday because of ‘unique circumstances’, instead penciling it in for 25 June at Croke Park.
After a meeting of the Central Competitions Control Committee (CCCC), Meath’s request for their replay against Antrim to be pushed back to allow time for appropriate preparation was granted.
The game is now scheduled to take place at GAA HQ in three weeks time with a throw-in at 5pm.

“The Central Competitions Control Committee met this morning to consider a formal request from the Meath County Committee for a postponement of the Christy Ring Cup Final Replay between Meath and Antrim scheduled for this Saturday evening, June 11th,” a statement read.
“Given the unique circumstances involved, the C.C.C.C. agreed to postpone the game.”
The GAA confirmed on Tuesday that the final would need to be replayed after the score in the original game was recorded incorrectly.
The Meath County Board last night announced it would fulfill the fixture but only on the grounds it was rescheduled for a later date. They suggested Saturday 18 June but that date clashed with Antrim’s scheduled Ulster SHC semi-final.
Meath received the trophy after a one-point win in Croke Park last Saturday before it subsequently emerged that the game should have ended in a draw.
Referee John O’Brien had tallied the scoreline wrongly, giving Meath a one-point victory by 2-18 to 1-20 when the actual scoreline was 2-17 to 1-20.
It was then concluded that the two teams would need to meet again with the initial replay set for this Saturday in Páirc Esler.
