Highly-rated 16-year-old goalkeeper included in Bayern Munich's squad for the new season

Christian Fruchtl was brought on the club’s training trip to Qatar in January when he was still only 15.

BAYERN MUNICH HAVE handed promising 16-year-old goalkeeper Christian Fruchtl a new long-term deal and promoted him to the club’s first team.

Fruchtl first started training with the Bavarians’ senior side in the closing stages of the 2015-16 campaign and new coach Carlo Ancelotti has opted to keep the youngster as part of his squad.

Bayern confirmed in an official statement that the ‘keeper will serve as fourth choice for the Bungesliga champions behind Manuel Neuer, Sven Ulreich and Tom Starke this season.

Fruchtl has been capped at Under-16 level for Germany.
