One of the League of Ireland's finest footballers is in talks with an English club

St Patrick’s Athletic star Chris Forrester is negotiating personal terms with Peterborough United after the clubs agreed an undisclosed fee.

ST PATRICK’S ATHLETIC MANAGER Liam Buckley has confirmed that Chris Forrester is in negotiations with League One club Peterborough United ahead of a potential move.

22-year-old Forrester was a notable absentee from the Saints’ 1-0 defeat to Derry City, and Buckley said an undisclosed fee has been agreed, with the player now ironing out personal terms.

“At the minute he is negotiating with them (Peterborough), and and if he agrees terms with them he will go,” stated Buckley.

“In fairness to Christy Forrester he has been a fantastic footballer for this club. He wanted the move, it’s a full-time position, and basically what he has is a part-time contract that finishes in two months’ time.

He has the chance to go and cut his cloth over there, and if he does as well there as he has done with us here then he might really do something over there, but that’s obviously on the basis that he can agree with them.”

The late transfer leaves Buckley no time to do some business of his own in the transfer market, and the only type of player he could possibly sign would be one who is currently without a club.
