Former League of Ireland star Chris Forrester captains his side against Chelsea today

The 24-year-old midfielder has become an integral part of the Peterborough team.

EX-ST PATRICK’S ATHLETIC player Chris Forrester will captain Peterborough for their FA Cup tie against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge today.

The 24-year-old midfielder, who has impressed since moving to the League One side after joining them in August 2015, has been linked with a move to Championship clubs Derby, Reading and Brentford in the past week.

Forrester was rewarded with a new Peterborough contract to ward off potential suitors last summer, while he made the provisional Ireland squad for friendlies against Switzerland and Slovakia last year.

And today’s match against the Premier League leaders is another chance to enhance his growing reputation, with the Dubliner having already caught the eye against Premier League opposition in the FA Cup last year.

Chelsea, meanwhile, have named a largely second-string team for the game, though stars including Eden Hazard and Diego Costa can be called from the bench if needed.
