‘YOUTH HOSTELLING WITH Chris Eubank’ may sound like a bizarre idea to the average person, but it will be familiar to hardcore fans of the I’m Alan Partridge sitcom.
A 1997 season one episode of the show features the fictional character pitching elaborate ideas to clearly unimpressed TV executives, one of which is the aforementioned prospective programme involving the former world middleweight champion.
And now, Hostelworld have gone a step further, creating a mock trailer based on the idea and starring Eubank himself.
Up until recently, Eubank had been perplexed by all the hostel-related jokes coming his way on Twitter, but the retired boxer said in a statement:
“Youth Hostelling with Chris Eubank has now become a reality and finally, albeit a little embarrassed and ashamed, I’m in on the joke 18 years after Alan Partridge pitched it!”
The clip also appears to also have been given an official seal of approval from the Partridge camp, with the show’s co-creator Armando Iannucci tweeting out a link to it.

so Pearce wasnt eligible even when he played for us against Oman and when he was in a couple of other squads?decent player though reminds me a tad of Richard Dunne but obviously not as good(Atleast not yet).Wouldnt give Stearman the light of day,Was crap in the premiership and theres no way we should be picking a n average league two player when we have better options playing at a higher level. Im all for bringing in lads on the granny rule but we dont need another Paul Green that offers nothing to what we already have
Eligible, yes. Tied down to Ireland & nobody else, no. You only become tied to one nation when you make a competitive appearance. Pearce hasn’t done that yet.
Agree on Stearman. Do we really need a Third Division defender in the squad?
Yeah Pearce is a decent defender and could develop into an excellent player in time, so thats a good capture in a position that we will need cover in. Not sure that Stearman will offer much to Ireland.
We could do with discovering a few more players born outside the country with Irish heritage. I hope that the new manager whoever he is has a good scouting network. Send a couple of scouts to Argentina, there is a large Irish population there. Their last manager who just quit the other night was a Phelan. Who knows what we might find there :) Irish and Germans are the big European ethnic groups in that country.
Can you imagine Lional O’ Messi?
Santiago Phelsn was coach of their rugby team. Alejandro Sabello us the football coach.
Richard Stearman has played only one league game for Wolves this season, a team in League One!!!
He should be an automatic starter for us then.
Who ????????
Hopefully Conor Kenna, Greg Bolger and Killian Brennan get call ups in November
Supersaints
Would much rather Stearman over McShane. I’d rather a one legged donkey over the ginger Messi.
