Bayern Munich are set to face Atletico Madrid after the draw was made in Nyon this morning.

Champions League semi-final

MANCHESTER CITY HAVE been paired with Real Madrid in this morning’s Champions League semi-final draw in Nyon, while Bayern Munich will have to deal with Atletico Madrid if they are to make it to the final.

Pep Guardiola avoided his future employer, while for outgoing City boss Manuel Pellegrini, the semi-final will be a return to the club he managed in 2009-10.

City’s only games against Real, unbeaten in their last eight games against English clubs and in the semi-finals for a record sixth successive time, were in the 2012-13 group stage. They drew 1-1 at home and lost 3-2 away.

Atletico, the Diego Simeone-coached team that knocked out defending champions Barcelona in the quarter-finals, and Bayern have previously met once in European action, in the 1974 final, the Bundesliga side running out 4-0 winners in the replay following an initial 1-1 draw.

The first legs of the semi-finals will take place on 26 and 27 April, with the returns scheduled for 3 and 4 May.

The final at San Siro is on 28 May.
