TONIGHT’S CARD FOR UFC 203 in Cleveland has lost another fight.

The UFC released a statement this afternoon, revealing that CB Dollaway has pulled out of his light-heavyweight bout against Francimar Barroso.

According to the organisation, Dollaway suffered an injury while using an elevator at the hotel where fighters have been staying in the Ohio city:

CB Dollaway has had to withdraw from his scheduled bout at UFC 203 due to an injury he suffered last night as a result of an elevator accident at a hotel in Cleveland. UFC officials have been in communication with hotel management, and the hotel is currently evaluating and investigating the issues surrounding the incident.

Faulty elevators at the hotel have caused headaches for UFC fighters this week. Alistair Overeem, who takes on UFC heavyweight champion Stipie Miocic in tonight’s main event, is facing a fine from the Ohio Athletic Commission due to his late arrival at yesterday’s weigh-ins, which he blamed on a problem with an elevator.

Dollaway was one of several fighters, along with the likes of Urijah Faber and Fabricio Werdum, who were stuck in an elevator when returning from the weigh-ins. Faber said on Instagram: “Elevator just snapped and we dropped three floors to the basement.”

According to MMAFighting.com reporter Ariel Helwani, Dollaway — who was set to bid to return to winning ways following a trio of losses to Lyoto Machida, Michael Bisping and Nate Marquardt — suffered a back injury and the hotel declined to comment on the incident.

UFC 203 will now feature 10 bouts instead of the usual tally of 12, after illness forced Ray Borg to withdraw from his flyweight clash with Ian McCall earlier this week.
