JAMIE CARRAGHER HAS slammed Aston Villa an “embarrassment” following their 6-0 trouncing at home to Liverpool today, insisting they are the “worst Premier League side of all time”.
Villa have collected just 16 points in 26 Premier League games this term, having been rooted to the bottom of the table all season.
Remi Garde’s men have looked destined for relegation for the entire campaign and their collapse against Jurgen Klopp’s men at Villa Park, with six different scorers getting in on the action, sparked a tirade from former Liverpool captain Carragher.

“They’re an embarrassment, Villa, and they have been for a few years. If that team were in the Championship, they’d be closer to the bottom than the top. Thinking of how difficult it is for young kids whose dream it is to play in the Premier League, well that gives anyone hope,” Carragher said on Sky Sports.
“Of the teams that go down, there’s always a player or two managers look at who they’d like to take, but I can’t think of a single player from that squad who you’d want in your team.
“I said before I think this is the worst Premier League side of all time — and was reliably informed it’d be Derby or Sunderland — but I think, forget the points. That right there is the worst I’ve ever seen. I can’t remember those other seasons, but that’s the worst.”
Villa have won just three games in the English top flight this term and sit eight points from safety following today’s result.
