'Every manager would think of managing Manchester United', says Carlo Ancelotti

The Italian has been out of work since being sacked by Real Madrid at the end of last season.

THE RUMOURS WILL start to fly now that Carlo Ancelotti has indicated he’d like to return to the Premier League and would be interested in the Manchester United job.

Speaking to The Independent’s Mark Ogden, the Italian said he is motivated by the quality of the project offered and is not in any rush to take on a job.

He was sacked as Real Madrid boss back in May but has been on a sabbatical since. His time off has seen him  have surgery on a troublesome back problem, recuperate in Vancouver where his wife is from and refuse to rush back into management. Though he has indicated that he wants to take on a coaching role at the end of the current season.

“I will continue to wait,” he told Ogden.

If I don’t find a club with a good project, I can wait. What will I do? Watching games, fishing, all these things. But let us see next summer. I will not take a job in mid-season, but I would like to work again next summer.”

On whether or not he’d be interested in the manager’s job at Old Trafford, he said:

“Of course, for every manager, they would all think of managing Manchester United.”

Louis van Gaal’s current deal expires in the summer of 2017 and previously stated he then wants to retire and spend more time with his wife.

Still, it’s believed his future will be ironed out by the United top brass early in the new year.

But with Pep Guardiola seemingly available at the end of the current campaign and United allegedly not interested in his services, it would appear those at Old Trafford don’t see van Gaal being sacked before his contract runs out.
