BT SPORTS HAS announced a new team of presenters and pundits as part of their Champions League coverage for the upcoming season.

Match of the Day presenter Gary Lineker will be joined by recently-departed Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard and ex-Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand, as well as Glenn Hoddle and Harry Redknapp.

Referee Howard Webb has also been added to their list of analysts, which already includes Paul Scholes, Michael Owen and Steve McManaman. Meanwhile, ‘AC Jimbo’ James Richardson (of Football Italia and Football Weekly fame) will host a ‘Goals’ show on match nights.

The subscription channel, which paid €1.1 billion to beat Sky and ITV for live broadcasting rights of Europe’s elite club competition back in 2013, is charging UK customers £5 per-month for their new Ultra HD European football channel, BT Sport Europe, which will show 351 matches from the Champions League and Europa League this season.

And Setanta Sports has this morning announced it will be available to Irish customers as part of the current Setanta Sports Pack.

“We are delighted to see this investment by BT Sport in this additional channel,” said Setanta Sports marketing operations manager Brian Quinn. “To have every Champions League and Europa League game on one channel is great for our customers and BT Sport have ensured that the new channel, BT Sport Europe, has a great presentation team.

“It brings to 6 the number of channels in the Setanta pack and it means the new season will be our strongest yet making Setanta a must-have for football fans here.”
