COMMENTS BY BRIAN CODY in the wake of Kilkenny’s All-Ireland hurling final reply win over Tipperary did not constitute “misconduct considered to have discredited” the GAA.
A meeting of the Central Disciplinary Committee judged that the comments by Cody – when he claimed Barry Kelly’s decision in the drawn game to award a late free that nearly yielded a winning score for Tipperary was “criminal” – did not warrant any further action by the organisation.
However, the 10-time All-Ireland winning manager has been warned as to his future conduct in media interviews.
The statement from An Lár Choiste Éisteachta reads:
“At a Hearing in Páirc an Chrócaigh last night, An Lár Choiste Éisteachta considered comments attributed to Briain Mac Óda in the national media did not constitute misconduct considered to have discredited the Association. However, Briain Mac Óda was warned as to his future conduct in media interviews.”
The CDC did hand down a 24-week suspension to an Armagh fan for his part in the brawl that marred the start of his county’s clash with Cavan in the Ulster SFC.
Junior isnt a fighter – hes a comedy act. He couldve been something special but he got caught up in his own hype, started living off of the idea that daddys success meant all he had to do was sit back and let the titles roll in. Got caught up in his own delusion and wasted the potential he had. Its a shame but its hard to be sympathetic, he got the breaks that other fighters never got and he didnt appreciate it.
