After placing faith in the Northern Irishman during the summer, the first eight games of the season have clearly changed the Anfield hierarchy’s mind and reports suggest Rodgers’ fate was determined before yesterday’s 1-1 draw at Everton.

Although it’s been a stuttering start to the campaign, the Reds lie just four points off Manchester United and Arsenal yet the Fenway Sports Group had decided Rodgers was no longer the man for the job.
But was it the right decision? And why now?
Jamie Carragher, among others, have questioned the timing of the Anfield board’s move, particularly considering Rodgers was given £80 million to spend during the transfer window.
“I’d prefer them to have done it in the summer but he’s been there three and a bit years, he hasn’t won a trophy and they’ve played Champions League football once,” Carragher said on Sky Sports.
“That’s not good enough for Liverpool.”
