There was an incredible welcome for Brendan Rodgers at Celtic Park earlier today

An estimated 10,000 supporters turned up to welcome the former Liverpool boss to the club.

THE SUN SHONE, the crowds were out in numbers and Brendan Rodgers was unveiled as the club’s new manager.

All in all, it was a pretty good day for the Celtic supporters.

An estimated 10,000 of them flocked to Celtic Park to welcome the former Liverpool boss to Glasgow.

Rodgers has signed a 12-month rolling contract and revealed he turned down offers from Premier League teams to take up the reins in Scotland.

“Celtic’s one of the biggest clubs in the world, and for me to come up here out of the Premier League, it’s certainly not a step down,” he said.

“This is one of the great clubs in the world and it is an institution in its own right.

My emotional attachment to the football club is very strong and has been for many years. There was a draw for me here. People talk about levels but Celtic is one of the biggest football clubs in the world.”

Rodgers has revealed that one of his primary objectives is to increase attendances by providing a product for the fans that ‘excites them, that’s about scoring goals and is about winning’.
