TIPPERARY GOALKEEPING GREAT Brendan Cummins does not think that Clare manager Davy Fitzgerald’s health scare this week will be an obstacle to success for the Banner on Sunday in Thurles.
Fitzgerald attended a Galway clinic for a check-up on Tuesday night and was referred to a hospital in Dublin on Wednesday where he underwent additional tests.
The Clare management team remain hopeful that Fitzgerald will be patrolling the sideline in Semple Stadium for the battle with the Tribesmen.
But Cummins reckons that Fitzgerald will still ensure his team are finely-tuned before Sunday’s game.

“It’s certainly a tricky one because Davy’s such a great leader to these Clare players.
“But he’s got a strong backroom team obviously with Donal Óg in there as well and they’ll have it well planned there’s no doubt about that.
“Players get on about their business now four or five days before a match, they know there’s no excuses if they lose Sunday evening.

“Obviously everybody, sport aside, is wishing him a speedy recovery. When you’re inside in there you just want to win the match and that’s it.
“Davy is a really organised man and I’d say now whether the man was in a coma, knocked out, whatever the case may be, he’ll be getting messages into his group inside and keeping the fire lit under them.
“They’ll be fine and hopefully he’ll back on the line again at the weekend.”
