BRAZILIAN PARALYMPIAN LUCIANO dos Santos Pereira has been kicked out of Rio 2016 after testing positive for two banned substances.
Pereira participated in the F11 discus, shot put and triple jump at London 2012, but was unable to medal. He caused a brief stir in the triple jump when colliding with a judge.
The International Paralympic Committee confirmed today that the 40-year-old had been caught doping at the IPC Athletics Grand Prix in Rio this May.

A statement read: “The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) has announced that Brazilian thrower Luciano Dos Santos Pereira has been suspended for four years for an Anti-Doping Rule violation and consequently will no longer be competing at the upcoming Rio 2016 Paralympic Games.
“Dos Santos Pereira returned an adverse analytical finding for two substances — stanozolol and oxandrolone —in a urine sample provided on 18 May 2016 after he had competed in the men’s discus F11 at the IPC Athletics Grand Prix in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, an event that doubled up as the 2016 Caixa Loterias Athletics Open Championships.”
Having blanket banned Russian competitors from the Paralympic Games over state-sponsored and organised doping regimes and cover-ups, the IPC once again outlined its hard-line stance against drugs cheats.
It said: “The principle of strict liability applies to anti-doping matters.
“Therefore, each athlete is strictly liable for the substances found in his or her sample, and that an anti-doping rule violation occurs whenever a prohibited substance (or its metabolites or markers) is found in his or her bodily specimen, whether or not the athlete intentionally or unintentionally used a prohibited substance or was negligent or otherwise at fault.”
