'I'm unable to continue for reasons which must remain between the club and myself' - Croly

The Seagulls are looking for a new manager after revealing that Trevor Croly has left by mutual consent.

BRAY WANDERERS HAVE announced the departure of manager Trevor Croly from the club.

The former Shamrock Rovers manager took over the SSE Airtricity League club in May and lifted the Wicklow side out of the relegation zone with three victories.

However, Croly is believed to be upset with matters off-the-field and, in particular, the late payment of players’ wages. He stepped down last week and wasn’t present at Saturday’s league game away to Limerick — when midfielder David Cassidy acted as player/manager during a 1-0 win.

That night, the players released a statement via the PFAI expressing their frustrations, saying trust between them and the club officials was “beyond repair”, before Bray chairman Denis O’Connor rejected the claims and added that the club would be “considering” his position.

Now they have confirmed the 41-year-old’s exit.

“The club and Trevor have agreed that he will leave the club by mutual consent,” the statement reads.

“We confirm that he is parting on amicable terms and wishes the club, the players and the fans well for the future. He is grateful to the Board for the professional manner in which they have handled his departure.

It’s unfortunate that we are losing Trevor at this time given the recent upturn in the club’s fortunes but we depart on good terms and we will not be commenting further,” said O’Connor.

Trevor Croly added: “It has been a privilege to manage this team and this group of players. Unfortunately, I am unable to continue in my role for reasons which must remain between the club and myself. I will be making no further comment on the matter and wish everyone at the club well for the future.”
