DROGHEDA GOT OFF to a strong start to the 2015 Airtricity League season this evening as they left the Carlisle Grounds in Bray with all three points after a 1-0 win.
Drogheda striker Daryl Kavanagh was busy all night, and the play seemed to revolve around him whenever the visitors went on the attack.
He went close to breaking the deadlock with a curling shot on 25 minutes but Bray goalkeeper Stephen McGuinness did well to tip the ball around the post.
The striker only had to wait another 60 seconds for the breakthrough, however. A clearance by Drogheda goalkeeper Michael Schlingermann landed at the feet of Cathal Brady and Kavanagh met the midfielder’s cross with a powerful header that found the net.

The goalscorer almost had a second ten minutes after the break when he was picked out by a Jason Marks header, but McGuinness was once again equal to his drive and palmed it wide.
One of Bray’s best chances came late on when Emeka Onwubiko crossed for Ryan McEvoy but defender Michael Daly blocked well to prevent a goal.
