Bohemians haunted by former players as Seagulls continue to soar after another win

Chris Lyons and Dave Scully both scored against their former club as Bray ran out comfortable winners.

DESPITE THE ONGOING off-field problems that have afflicted the club for much of the season, Bray Wanderers are enjoying a peerless campaign on it as they stormed to another impressive win on Monday evening.

After going behind against the run of play, Mick Cooke’s side hit back with three goals to record their ninth win of the season and move further away from the bottom half of the table.

Bray started purposefully and enjoyed much of the early possession but found themselves behind when Robbie Creevy pounced to give Bohs a 17th minute lead.

Peter Cherrie failed to deal with Lorcan Fitzgerald’s cross and Creevy was on hand to finish from close range.

Not to be deterred by that setback, the Seagulls continued to dominate proceedings and got their just rewards two minutes later.

Eoin Wearen recklessly brought Chris Lyons down in the box and after referee Rob Rodgers pointed to the spot, former Bohs striker Lyons converted to level matters.

The visitors, who started the evening a place above their opponents in fifth, finished the half strongly but found themselves behind shortly after the restart.

Ryan McEvoy carved open the Bohs defence with a perfectly-weighted ball for Peter McGlynn to latch onto and after cutting in from the left, the midfielder’s low drive was too powerful for Dean Delany.

Keith Long’s side pushed for a late equaliser but it was the hosts who sealed the deal through Dave Scully in the dying embers.
