Robbie Brady inherits Ireland number 10 shirt from Robbie Keane

As they kick off the post-Robbie Keane era, the Boys in Green have a new man donning the famous Number 10 shirt

IRELAND’S SEARCH FOR a new Number 10 in the wake of Robbie Keane’s retirement has concluded, and another Robbie has inherited the famous shirt.

Ahead of Ireland’s first game of the post-Robbie Keane era – the 2018 World Cup qualifier against Serbia – the Football Association of Ireland (FAI) announced that Robbie Brady would don the Number 10 jersey.

The Norwich City midfielder, who previously wore the number 19 for the Boys in Green, was a key member of Martin O’Neill’s team during Euro 2016, scoring against Italy and France, and is sure to be central to Irish hopes of reaching the World Cup in Russia.

LA Galaxy striker Keane brought the curtain down on his 18-year Ireland career in a friendly victory against Oman on August 31.

The 36-year-old now hands the jersey over to the next generation.
