CORK CITY SECURED a second consecutive runner-up finish thanks to a Billy Dennehy penalty seven minutes from full-time tonight against Bohemians at Dalymount Park.
Despite Shamrock Rovers’ defeat of Drogheda United this evening, the Leesiders sealed second place with two points to spare. Bohs, meanwhile, miss out on European football for 2016 as St Patrick’s Athletic wrapped up fourth place courtesy of their win in Galway.

Cork City goalkeeper Mark McNulty made good saves from both Anto Murphy and Lorcan Fitzgerald in the early stages of this game, before Ismahil Akinade saw a penalty claim waved away by referee Neil Doyle when he tangled with Dan Murray in the 25th minute.
Bohs stopper Dean Delany was also in good form, denying Steven Beattie’s free-kick with an excellent save, while Karl Sheppard and Mark O’Sullivan both missed the target with good opportunities for the visitors.
In the second-half, McNulty saved brilliantly from Keith Buckley’s chipped effort and Delany produced another fine stop to keep John Dunleavy’s effort out.
Buckley cleared an O’Sullivan header off the line with 14 minutes remaining but the only goal of the game arrived shortly afterwards when Anto Murphy was deemed to have handled Colin Healy’s cross in the box. Dennehy made no mistake from the spot.
