Tana Umaga's Blues will unleash their first ever pre-match haka against the Lions tomorrow night

The game takes place in Eden Park.

FOR THE FIRST time in their 21-year history, Super Rugby side the Blues will perform a pre-match haka ahead of their game against the Lions at Eden Park tomorrow night.

Sam Nock and Ihaia West will lead the haka, which is called He Toa Takitini (The Strength of Many) and was composed by Whiria Meltzer and Ruka Makiha, two friends of Blues coach Tana Umaga.

“We have an exceptional group of men who are proud of their Pacific cultures and are looking forward to connecting their heritages through a haka,” said Umaga.

“We have been practising for some time and the boys will be looking forward to getting out there for what will be a fantastic occasion.”

The Chiefs, one of New Zealand’s four other Super Rugby sides, will also perform a haka before they take on the Lions.
