There was a cracking finish at Canterbury today after one jockey bared his arse

Blake Shinn lost his pants mid-race but didn’t let it prevent him from pushing the winner right to the finish line.

IF NOTHING ELSE, Australian jockey Blake Shinn is focused.

The former Melbourne Cup winner was on board Miss Royale in the opening race at Canterbury today when the elastic snapped on his pants — causing him to flash those directly behind him as well as everyone watching from the stands and on TV.

Determined to win the race, he ignored the unfortunate wardrobe malfunction and battled on but narrowly lost out to Defender, with the appropriately-named Modesty finishing third.

I was more worried about winning the race,” Shinn told The Sydney Morning Herald. “They [the pants] went just after the start and there was nothing I could do.

“I think a lot of people are going to have a bit of fun with this, but they can’t say I wasn’t focused and went to the line.”
