The Irish boxing coach made his way through Dublin Airport this morning to fly out to America, where he is set to finalise a contract with the US women’s team.

Walsh has described his resignation as the head of the high performance unit as “the hardest decision I’ve ever had to make.”
Apart from a short statement issued on Monday night, the Irish Amateur Boxing Association refused to make any comment on the collapse of negotiations with Walsh, who oversaw seven Olympic medals during his time in charge.
