Remember Rene Higuita at Italia '90? Well, there was a similar goalkeeping howler tonight

Besiktas’ Fabricio Agosto Ramírez had a nightmare moment against Lyon in their Europa League quarter-final.

WHEN THE TRICKS come off, you’re celebrated like a hero. When they don’t, you look pretty foolish.

But goalkeepers walk an even tighter line and are always dangling precariously somewhere between legend and laughing stock.

Tonight, Besiktas shot-stopper Fabricio Agosto Ramirez or Fabri as he’s affectionately known, veered headfirst into the latter category.

His team were leading Lyon for the vast majority of their Europa League quarter-final first-leg thanks to Ryan Babel’s goal. But, with just seven minutes left, they conceded an equaliser.

So, with a vital away goal in the bag and the minutes ticking by, you’d think every Besiktas player would be ultra-careful, right? Wrong.

When Atiba Hutchinson knocked a back-pass towards him on 85 minutes, you’d think Fabri would’ve simply booted it clear. Wrong again. Instead, he did his best impression of Rene Higuita at the World Cup in 1990.

Warning: it’s not pretty.
