GERMAN INTERNATIONAL BASTIAN Schweinsteiger has paid tribute to Irish student Niccolai Schuster who lost his life in Berkeley on Monday night.
The 21-year-old, along with friends Eoghan Culligan (21), Eimear Walsh (21), Olivia Burke (21), Ashley Donohoe (22) and Lorcan Miller (21), were celebrating a 21st birthday party in an apartment in the Californian city when the fourth-floor balcony collapsed.
Some of his friends contacted the Bayern Munich midfielder on Facebook with a message describing how much the club meant to life-long fan Nick.
And Schweinsteiger has this afternoon posted a fitting response by expressing his condolences to Nick’s family and friends and all the other people involved in the tragic accident.

“The news makes me very sad. I wish much strength for this difficult time you, the family and all relatives of Nick. I would like to express my condolences also all other sufferers of this accident,” his message read.
Footballers can often be criticised but this is a lovely touch from Schweinsteiger.
