GABI AND ATLETICO Madrid breathed a sight of relief late on in tonight’s Champions League quarter-final, as Barcelona were denied a penalty.

Gabi appeared to handle the ball in the box, but the referee thought the incident took place outside the area and consequently awarded Barca a free-kick, with the visitors’ players expressing their anger at the officials as a result.

A goal from the ensuing penalty would almost have certainly taken the game to extra-time, but instead, Atletico won 2-0 in the night and went through as 3-2 winners on aggregate.
