Edson Barboza's low blow on Paul Felder was not for the squeamish

Barboza’s trademark spinning wheel kick is a dangerous weapon.

AFTER TWO IMPRESSIVE wins so far in his young career in the UFC, Paul Felder made a big-step up tonight to take on Edson Barboza at UFC on FOX 16 in Chicago.

Felder — who hails from Philadelphia and goes by the nickname ‘The Irish Dragon’ — would have been very aware of the danger posed by Barboza’s spinning wheel kick, but when it arrived, he probably wasn’t expecting it to land where it did.

Instead of targeting Felder’s head, Barboza aimed low — a little too low for Felder’s liking.

The bout was held up for a couple of minutes while Felder regrouped and checked that everything below was still intact. After three excellent rounds, Barboza took a unanimous-decision via 29-28 scores across the board.

After a fearsome kick to the manhood and the first defeat of his career, it was a bad night for Felder. But as Terry Etim knows, when you’re faced with Edson Barboza’s spinning wheel kick, things could always be worse.
