Bale's agent rubbishes 'ridiculous, stupid' talk of Man Utd move

The Real Madrid winger has been linked with a mega-money move to Old Trafford this summer.

GARETH BALE’S AGENT has rubbished talk of a potential move away from Real Madrid this summer.

Reports have suggested that Bale could be sold to Manchester United this summer, with Real pursuing a deal for Monaco youngster Kylian Mbappe which could eclipse the current world transfer record.

However, Jonathan Barnett, Bale’s representative, insists that there is no truth in the speculation.

“It’s a ridiculous, stupid story,” he told BBC Sport.

United have long been linked with Bale, having initially tried to sign the Wales international prior to his move from Southampton to Tottenham in 2007, and made a bid for him as he completed his £86 million transfer to Real in 2013.

Bale signed a new contract in October of 2016, which ties him to the Santiago Bernabeu until 2022, with his agent’s comments seemingly confirming he will not leave the Bernabeu in the summer.

When asked about the futures of Bale, Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema after their 4-1 defeat to Manchester City this week in Los Angeles, Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane said: “I hope they stay, but I am not the one to decide.”
