Trip to Belgium or Montenegro next up for Cork City in the Europa League

St Patrick’s Athletic are up against Welsh outfit Connah’s Quay or Vojvodina of Serbia if they go through.

CORK CITY AND St Patrick’s Athletic have discovered who they are in line to play if they come through their respective Europa League second qualifying round ties.

The Leesiders came away from Gothenburg with a 1-1 draw after Sean Maguire’s second half penalty against BK Hacken yesterday, while the Saints’ away leg with Dinamo Minsk ended in the same scoreline in Belarus.

Both are at home in six day’s time as they look to take one step closer to the group stages, and the draw for the third round was made this afternoon.

Genk or Buducnost Podgorica of Montenegro will provide opposition for John Caulfield’s men if they are successful, with the Belgian outfit 2-0 up in that tie.

For Pat’s, it’s a short trip to Wales to take on Connah’s Quay or a meeting with Serbian club Vojvodina, who hold a 1-0 advantage.
