Stint abroad may rule Jack McCaffrey out of Dublin's All-Ireland defence - reports

The medicine student is believed to be considering an opportunity to work overseas.

JIM GAVIN MAY have to plan Dublin’s All-Ireland defence without Footballer of the Year Jack McCaffrey after it emerged the UCD medicine student is considering a stint of overseas work.

It is believed that the 22-year-old flyer could miss a significant chunk, if not all, of this year’s championship campaign, according to reports in The Herald.

It would be a massive blow for the reigning All-Ireland champions, who are aiming to be the first team to retain the Sam Maguire since 2007.

It comes on the back of full-back and fellow AllStar Rory O’Carroll’s decision to move to New Zealand later this month on a working holiday visa with no immediate plan to return.

McCaffrey has had an active start to the season, featuring in Dublin’s opening two league games, and captaining UCD to their first Sigerson Cup success in 20 years.
