LAST MONTH, WE were treated to one of the greatest ever League of Ireland tweets when The Irish Sunโs Owen Cowzer sent out this gem from Dalymount Park, as a hapless stadium announcer found himself running low on juice for his phone.
Well, it may technically be the FAI Cup and not the league, but this tweet from sports photographer Ashley Cahill is certainly up there.
Cahill was out covering the cup tie between Sheriff YC and Athlone Town on Friday, when something unusual caught his eye.
Behold, one of the tweets of the year.
The sides went on to play out a 2-2 draw.
Well done meath. Great to see an ireland back in the royal county
Feel bad for the no20 but the game was lost before that so hopefully he keeps the head up. Well done to Meath.
Meath shouldnโt have won they double hopped the ball for their last score and ref was beside him
@Moya Power-kelly: Despite that, Tyrone kicked that game away in the last 10 minutes. I lost track of the number of bad wides they had in that time period.
Hon the Royals
I just did and your not showing it
