EVEN IN AN era of instant access to videos of goals online, there are many football fans who enjoy nothing more than sitting down to watch Match of the Day on a Saturday evening to see how well — or badly — their chosen team has played.
And it seems the same applies to Premier League managers with Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger admitting that he often watches the BBC’s flagship football show.
However, the Frenchman is not always a fan of Gary Lineker, Alan Shearer and Mark Lawrenson it seems, telling Arsenal’s official magazine that he feels like reaching for the remote control after the theme tune has played out.
“In the evening I sometimes watch Match of the Day to see what happened here and there and to see how we have been perceived.
“Sometimes I think it would be better to watch it with the sound turned down! It depends on my mental state – sometimes I like to hear what they have got to say.
“The only thing that upsets me is if the intention behind [criticism] is wrong. I accept criticism when the intention is just a fair assessment. But when the intention is just to hurt of course it is very upsetting.”
Could prove to be a shrewd bit of business by united, he wants the club to do well and has a bit of quality about him.
I hope he does stay on.
