Welcome along to our live coverage of the Premier League’s fifth v first clash in North London.

Here are the two teams, plus subs:

Arsenal: Szczesny, Jenkinson, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Gibbs, Arteta, Wilshere, Ramsey, Ozil, Cazorla, Giroud.

Subs: Vermaelen, Walcott, Monreal, Fabianski, Bendtner, Flamini, Rosicky.

Everton: Howard, Coleman, Jagielka, Distin, Oviedo, McCarthy, Barry, Mirallas, Barkley, Pienaar, Lukaku.

Subs: Robles, Heitinga, Jelavic, Naismith, Osman, Stones, Deulofeu.

Cold and clear day in London and both sides will have three points on their agenda. Everton beat the champions, Manchester United, midweek while Arsenal defeated Hull 2-0.

Gary Neville heaping praise on James McCarthy and Gareth Barry before kick-off at The Emirates. Tim Howard, we’re told, is the only Everton player to have been in a victorious Toffees team against Arsenal. It was six years ago that the American tasted success against the Gunners.

KICK-OFF

Pienaar almost slips Lukaku in but Mertesacker slides to cut it out. Bryan Oviedo chopped fairly by Wilshere and a throw is the result. Arsenal happy to sit back and allow Everton pass the ball about in their own half.

Barkley snapping at Arsenal heels. He wins possession in midfield and slides Lukaku in. The Belgian cuts inside, into a crowded corridor, and his shot is easily blocked.

All Everton at the moment as Oviedo’s cross is blocked and Barkley earns a corner. It drops for Distin but he larrumphs it wide.

Martinez’ maxim of not whipping balls into box is a slightly foolish one but it almost pays dividends as Pienaar scampers into the box after it is taken short and passed around in pretty triangles. Jenkinson gets a toe in to clear.

McCarthy is penalised for obstructing Giroud but he could not get out of the way in time. 20 minutes gone and the Gunners have yet to muster a shot on or off target.

Coleman beats two men up the right and cuts into the box but his shot rises and arcs left and wide. Oviedo has looked to pile forward at every opportunity so far too.

First Arsenal chance of note as Jenkinson slips Cazorla in. The Spaniards ball across the six hard line is only missing a finish as Gibbs slides in but misses by inches.

Thierry Henry in the crowd at The Emirates and looking uneasy as Cazorla gets pinched for space up the left wing and another Gunners attack deflates.

Here’s something for you Arsenal fans to chew on:

38 minutes gone and it has been most, if not all, Everton so far. The home crowd have been pancake flat all afternoon. The only time they have raised a hackle is to boo a refereeing decision.

Super chance for Arsenal but Howard hares off his line to block Giroud’s attempted dink from 10 yards out. Acute angle but he would have backed himself to score.

Howard saves again! The goalkeeper is quick off his line again to block Ramsey after Giroud slips him in from a one-two. Cazorla has a chance to square for Giroud to shoot but he runs down a blind alley.

HALF-TIME

No changes from either side as Arsenal get play going in the second half.

Gibbs lets one rip from 26 yards out but it was never on target. Premier League football has become very cagey, especially when top sides meet. Arsenal and Everton are both retreating into their respective halves whenever they lose possession.

Gibbs whips in a decent cross that Distin does well to get a head on. Second half possession is 62:38 in the home side’s favour.

Giroud beats two men and pulls the ball back to the penalty spot but there is not a shirt jersey within 15 yards of the pass.

Pienaar stings the palms of Szczesny after good work from Jagielka breaking from defence. Flick from Barkley set him up for the shot. 55 minutes gone.

Howard does well to beat away an Arsenal shot and Everton break forward but no-one can get on the end of Oviedo’s whipped ball into the box.

James McCarthy wins the ball with a kung fun challenge on Ramsey. Home crowd bay for blood but Howard Webb keeps the cards in his pocket. Just a free.

There has been a real lack of intensity to this game and the Arsenal fans sense the creeping stupor. They get a chorus of ‘Come on Arsenal’ going. Wenger senses it too as he readies his bench.

Triple substitution coming up…

First up, however, Barkley stung the palms of Szcezesny with a piledriver from 25 yards out.

Flamini and Rosicky on for the Gunners. One more but I’ll have to confirm.

Walcott is the other sub. He tees up Flamini, who flashes wide.

Deulofeu is getting prepped to come on as Roberto Martinez gives him final instructions. 14 minutes of normal time left.

Tim Howard gets a yellow card for time-wasting — his FOURTH yellow of the season — and wastes more time before finally taking a goal-kick.

Close for Everton! They earn a corner and Ozil’s defending is half-hearted. Mirallas gets a cross in, it takes a deflection and Distin –unmarked at the back post — can’t keep his header down.

GOAL! Arsenal 1-0 Everton (Ozil ’79)

The subs — Rosicky and Walcott combine — for the opener. Walcott heads back across the face of goal, Giroud can’t connect but Ozil is at the back post to roof the ball home.

Distin will really be regretting that wasted header, two minutes before the Gunners scored. Everton press now as the home crowd find their voice.

GOAL! Arsenal 1-1 Everton (Deulofeu ’83)

What a goal!! Arsenal allow the crossed ball to bounce in the box. Deulofeu gets it, jinks inside Gibbs and smashes home from 12 yards out. Goalkeeper may be culpable.

The goal has stunned Arsenal and, with two minutes left, Everton are pressing for all three points. Deulofeu almost gets Lukaku in but Szcezesny is out quickly to smother.

Osman needs to hook a Walcott ball out for a corner after a testing Walcott cross. Injury time looms…

Flamini with 2% composure as Howard and Distin get in a horrible mess and leave the net unguarded. The Frenchman could not get his volley on target.

Lukaku has a player on each shoulder but backs himself to score. His shot is high and wide. Martinez holds up his team’s momenyum by replacing Barkley with Naismith. Happy with the draw even if his players are not.

GIROUD!! So close! He fashions a chance for himself but hits the angle of crossbar and post with a lovely volley.

FULL-TIME

Arsenal’s lead is a healthy five but it could have been so much more. The weekend’s results benefit Spurs and Liverpool.

Everton not going to be title contenders but they look like they could challenge for the top four. Arsenal looked flat for long periods but will content themselves with the point ahead of a hectic festive period.
