Antoine Griezmann gave Ireland match ball to the son of murdered police officer

The France forward scored twice to send the Boys in Green out of Euro 2016.

IRELAND FANS WILL know Antoine Griezmann as the man who ended our Euro 2016 hopes in Lyon last Sunday.

The Atletico Madrid forward, 25, scored two goals in three minutes during the second half of their last-16 tie, after Robbie Brady had put Ireland ahead from the penalty spot, as the hosts progressed to the quarter-finals.

Man-of-the-match Griezmann was due to take home the match ball but decided instead to give it to a young fan waiting for him in the bowels of Parc Olympique Lyonnais.

The boy in question is the son of French police officier Jean-Baptiste Salvaing, who was stabbed to death along with his partner Jessica Schneider at their home in Magnanville outside Paris earlier this month.
