ANTHONY JOSHUA BELIEVES Katie Taylor can take women’s boxing to the next level.
An Olympic gold medallist and five-time world champion in the amateur game, the 30-year-old has recently turned professional — signing a contract with Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing.
This Saturday, she will face a toughest test against Switzerland’s Viviane Obenauf on the undercard of Joshua’s IBF heavyweight title fight with Eric Molina in Manchester.

And the English fighter has been impressed by Taylor thus far.
“What do I make of Katie Taylor?” he said, speaking to IFL TV. “Look at her personality, how she handles herself, look at what she’s done in the ring since the amateurs… unbelievable. And look at what she’s about to do as a pro.
“You can see the angels of the boxing arena are shining a light down on her, as cheesy as that may sound.
She’s just phenomenal, and she’s one of the women who will take women’s boxing to the next level. All credit to her and I wish her all the success that she deserves.”
He added: “She’s a big asset to boxing. With my shows and Eddie’s shows, they’re for the public and it’s an event — right from the bottom all the way up. It’s not just about one fight.”
