Another bad result for Ulster as Northampton rack up bonus-point win

The result means the Saints move above the Irish side on match points in the runners-up slots.

THERE WAS BAD news for Ulster in the European Champions Cup Pool 3 today, as Northampton earned a 22-10 bonus-point win over Scarlets.

The result means the Saints move above the Irish side on match points in the coveted runners-up slots, as both sides bid to qualify from the group stage.

Tries by Harry Mallinder, George Pisi, Sam Dickinson and George North ensured the Saints earned a convincing win against a Scarlets side who are already out of the competition.

Both Northampton and Ulster, who thrashed Oyonnax earlier, now face an anxious wait, as Sunday’s results will determine whether they reach the quarter-finals.

Meanwhile, in the other Pool 3 match, Glasgow beat Racing 92 22-5.

The French side still go through as Pool winners despite today’s loss, while Glasgow had nothing but pride to play for, as they were out of qualifying contention before today’s game.
