The 32-year-old second row, who has been with Connacht since 2013, has signed a two-year contract with the Top 14 club.
Muldowney has been an integral figure in the western province’s superb season under Pat Lam, with his passing and decision-making ability crucial to Connacht’s intelligent attacking style.

The England native’s professional career began with Moseley, before he spent the 2010/11 season with Glasgow. Muldowney played with the Exeter Chiefs for two years thereafter, before making the move to Galway.
I am very happy to have signed for Grenoble,” said Muldowney. “My family and I are looking forward to arriving; it’s a beautiful city and a fantastic rugby club.
“I spoke to Bernard Jackman several times and he has a great vision for the club, which is very exciting and I’m looking forward to hopefully playing a role.
“It’s also a great opportunity for me to play in the Top 14, which is one of the best and most difficult competitions in the world.”

Danny Qualter and academy lock Cian Romaine will also be hopeful of further opportunities next season.
