Experienced duo selected to referee upcoming All-Ireland SFC semi-finals

Maurice Deegan and David Coldrick get the nod.

MAURICE DEEGAN AND David Coldrick will referee the upcoming All-Ireland SFC semi-finals, the GAA have confirmed.

Laois native Deegan will officiate the Kerry v Mayo clash on 20 August. Deegan has taken charge of three All-Ireland finals, including Dublin’s one-point replay victory over Mayo October.

It will be his fourth championship game of the summer, after Tyrone’s 11-point Ulster quarter-final win over Derry, Mayo’s qualifier win against the Oak Leafers and Monaghan’s Ulster final defeat of Down.

Meath man Coldrick, who is also the veteran of three All-Ireland deciders, is the man in the middle for the 27 August showdown between Dublin and Tyrone.

Coldrick’s last All-Ireland final was Dublin’s 2015 victory over Kerry.

Coldrick’s last game was Kerry’s quarter-final victory against Galway, while he was also in charge of Kildare-Laois in Leinster and the first-half of Down-Monaghan in Ulster.
